Problem Statement
Problem Statement
Small business owners often rely on manual methods (paper or spreadsheets) to track sales, inventory, and customer orders. This leads to errors, misplaced records, and a lack of visibility into business performance. There’s a need for a simple digital solution that helps business owners stay on top of daily operations — anytime, anywhere.

Competitor Analysis
To better understand the market and user expectations, I analyzed four mobile and web-based tools commonly used by small business owners to manage sales, inventory, and customer transactions.

User Persona
User Persona
I created two user personas “Moyo and Brian” based on the data gathered from the user research. These personas represent the ideal users.

Low Fidelity Wireframes
Low Fidelity Wireframes
To visualize the structure and core interactions of the Salex app, I created low-fidelity wireframes focusing on simplicity, speed, and ease of use. These wireframes helped me map out the user experience before diving into high-fidelity design.

Key Takeaway from the project
Key Takeaway from the project
While designing the app, I started with my own assumptions about what users might need. But through interviews and usability testing, I gained a deeper understanding of their real challenges, such as time-consuming manual processes and the frequent loss of sales records.
This experience reinforced the importance of grounding design decisions in user insights, not assumptions. I learned that users don’t just want a digital tool; they need a solution that saves time, increases efficiency, and keeps their business records safe and accessible.
